Wisconsin Manhunt: A Family Tragedy Remains Unsolved After 3 Years

The tranquil countryside of Jefferson County, Wisconsin, became the setting for a chilling double murder and arson case that continues to baffle authorities three years later. This heart-wrenching story, punctuated by a frantic shootout caught on bodycam footage, raises more questions than answers as the prime suspect, Kevin Anderson, remains at large.

A Harrowing 911 Call and a Deadly Encounter

The tragedy unfolded on June 16th, 2020, when Nedra Lmy placed a distressed call to 911, reporting a possible break-in at her father’s farmhouse. Windows were smashed, and an unsettling silence hung in the air. Little did she know, her brother, Kevin Anderson, lay in wait, armed and dangerous.

As sheriff’s deputies arrived, the situation escalated into a terrifying shootout. Bodycam footage revealed a scene of chaos and terror as Anderson, positioned in an upper window, rained down bullets. The deputy, pinned down, desperately radioed for backup while returning fire. “Shots fired! 595 return fire, upper window!” his voice crackled over the radio.

Tragically, Nedra and her husband, Jim Lmy, who had arrived earlier, were caught in the crossfire. The deputy, after a heart-stopping exchange of gunfire, discovered their bodies near their vehicle. “595, I have a female laying down next to the vehicle, one male on the back, not involved,” he reported, his voice heavy with shock.

A Desperate Search for Answers Amidst the Flames

As first responders approached the farmhouse, a new horror unfolded: the house was engulfed in flames. Drone footage captured the horrifying scene as the blaze raged, consuming everything in its path. It soon became horrifyingly clear that this was no accident; arson was the likely cause.

Investigators quickly zeroed in on Kevin Anderson, now the prime suspect in the double homicide and arson. “This case is a stark reminder of the unpredictable and dangerous situations law enforcement officers face every day,” Sheriff David Mahon stated at a press conference. “We are committed to bringing Mr. Anderson to justice and providing closure to the victims’ families.”

A Community in Shock as a Killer Remains on the Run

Despite an extensive manhunt using canines, drones, and assistance from state and federal agencies, Anderson vanished without a trace. The motive behind this senseless act of violence is believed to stem from a long-simmering family dispute over their father’s estate.

“It’s just unbelievable that something like this could happen in our quiet community,” shared a neighbor, his voice laced with disbelief and sorrow. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims’ family during this incredibly difficult time.”

Kevin Anderson remains a wanted fugitive, considered armed and extremely dangerous. The U.S. Marshals Service is offering a significant reward for information leading to his arrest. The families of Nedra and Jim Lmy cling to the hope that justice will be served, and the shadow of this tragedy can begin to lift.
