A Desperate Plea for Help
In December 2023, Jamila Smith, a loving mother of two, went missing. Her disappearance followed a harrowing 911 call she made while attempting to escape her abusive ex-boyfriend, Daniel Gabriel Harmon. In the call, Jamila could be heard gasping for breath, her voice trembling with fear. She told the dispatcher that Harmon was chasing her and that he had hit her. The dispatcher noted the sound of a revving engine and Jamila’s desperate pleas for Harmon to leave her alone. “You hit me! Tragically, this wasn’t the first instance of domestic violence in their relationship. Jamila’s family revealed to USA Today that she had contacted authorities multiple times about Harmon’s abuse, including three incidents earlier that year. Sadly, her attempts to escape the cycle of violence were unsuccessful.
