According to reports from local news outlets, an off-duty Washington D.C. Metropolitan Police officer responded to a call from a concerned Target employee on June 20th. The employee reported a man who was asked to leave the store after closing time but refused. As the officer approached the man, it became apparent that he wasn’t budging, prompting the officer to call for backup.

Body camera footage released to the public reveals the responding officers expressing concern that the incident might stem from a mental health issue. “Is he giving you a reason?” one officer can be heard asking.
