What do airports and emergency rooms have in common? A lot, according to Caryn Seidman-Becker, the cofounder, chair and CEO of Clear Secure—and it’s one of the reasons why Clear is expanding its identity-confirmation services from airports and stadiums and into doctors’ offices and hospitals.
Seidman-Becker recently spoke about this expansion at the Forbes Healthcare Summit, and while she was on-site, I sat down with her to talk more about her plans to grow Clear’s reach (“will it help us skip lines at the DMV?” I asked. “Not yet!” was her reply) and to get some crucial insight on the upcoming holiday travel season.
“Travel is booming. Thanksgiving was up 11% year over year; we’re looking for the Christmas holiday season to be up about 10% year over year,” she said of airport volume. For those who want a head’s up on what to expect for Christmas and New Year’s travel, Seidman-Becker had this warning: “December 15th, 20th and 21th are the one to maybe avoid—they’re going to be the busiest days.”
If this warning comes too late and you do have plans to travel on the 15th, 20th or 21st… we at ForbesWomen wish you good luck, good cheer, and suggest finding a good book to help pass the time you might be spending in lines!
Safe travels!

“It should cost a billion to look this good,” Beyoncé sings on “Pure/Honey” from her 2022 album, Renaissance. Given the stellar year the 42-year-old entertainer has had, money doesn’t appear to be a problem—she is now on a glidepath to becoming a billionaire, with a net worth of $800 million, Forbes estimates. “She’s one of the music gods,” IAG chairman Dennis Arfa, who represents acts including Billy Joel and Metallica, tells Forbes. “The business she does, and the amount of people that she draws, that she can do a movie on her own. She can do things most can’t.”

Shamaine Daniels is running for Congress in Pennsylvania’s 10th district, and while she is using standard campaign strategies like digital advertising, direct mail and door-to-door campaigning, she’s also tacking on a new one: calling constituents using AI. Daniels believes AI can be more effective than standard robo-calling.
Embattled Harvard President Claudine Gay will stay in office, the university’s governing body announced Tuesday, following calls for her to resign after she and other Ivy League presidents faced fierce criticism for testimony at a congressional hearing about antisemitism on college campuses. Meanwhile, Penn’s Liz Magill, one of the other college presidents under fire for this testimony, announced her resignation on Saturday.
The 81st annual Golden Globes nominations are here, and this year’s nominees largely honor female filmmakers, actors, and musicians. In fact, half of the screenplay contenders are women.
The Checklist
1. Borrow from the bank of grandma. With affluent Baby Boomers sitting on loads of cash, intra-family loans can be a win-win, so long as you pay attention to the tax rules and the paperwork.
2. Look on the bright side. Mothers shoulder a more significant share of the mental responsibilities in parenting, often called the invisible load. Surprisingly, new research suggests there may be a silver lining to assuming this hidden burden within the household.
3. Take a lunch break. A new survey finds that nearly half of workers (48%) skip lunch at least once a week. But working without taking breaks—and living without nutritional fuel—can be detrimental to both your physical and mental well-being.
