Lady Gaga has made a huge impact on music, but what sticks out the most is that you’ll never know what you’ll get when it comes to her fashion. One moment the Mother Monster, as her fans call her, will step out in a head-to-toe outfit covered in meat like she did at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards, and then shock fans in an angelic and stunning pink Valentino gown fit for a princess at the 75th Annual Venice Film Festival.
Lady Gaga’s style is constantly evolving and her looks, good and bad will forever be some of the most memorable we’ve ever seen on a celebrity. Below are just a handful of her most bizarre and most loved fashion choices.
11 Love: Coutour Valentino At The 2018 Venice Film Festival
One of Lady Gaga’s best looks by far is the pink couture Valentino gown she wore to the 75ht Venice Film Festival’s screening of her film, A Star is Born in August 2018. The songstress looked like a Disney princess in the feathered ball gown with her blonde hair in a twisted updo, minimal makeup, and dazzling diamond earrings.

Of course, it wouldn’t be right if Lady Gaga didn’t make a grand entrance to the screening. Before she stepped on the red carpet in her pink dress, the songstress arrived on a boat, where she rode on the edge of a water taxi with fans comparing her to Marilyn Monroe.
10 Bizarre: A Glitzy Sea Urchin
The only right way for Lady Gaga to end her Artpop tour in 2014 was to hold a party at Paris’ VIP Club and to arrive in an outfit that would make people turn heads. In November, the singer arrived at the exclusive club with what looked like a sparkly cloak, but once she was surrounded by paparazzi, Gaga inflated her dress to reveal countless shimmering spikes.
According to the designer of the dress, Central St. Martins alum Jack Irving, he wanted the singer to look like the spiny sea urchin. He told the DailyMail, “I envisioned creating a glitzy alien sea urchin Showgirl that transforms in front of the audience’s eyes.”
9 Love: A Menswear-Inspired-Suit At The Elle Women In Hollywood Event
Lady Gaga made a powerful statement when she arrived at the Elle Women in Hollywood Event in 2018 wearing a Marc Jacobs suit from the designer’s Spring 2019 runway collection. The songstress looked amazing in the oversized grey menswear-inspired-suit with her hair slicked back. Gaga also made a very impactful speech that night about being a woman in Hollywood and letting a woman’s voice be heard.

She also mentioned the power of fashion, discussing her reasoning behind choosing to wear the suit, sharing, “This was an oversized men’s suit for a woman. Not a gown. And then I began to cry. In this suit, I felt like me today. In this suit, I felt the truth of who I am well up in my gut. And then wondering what I wanted to say tonight became very clear to me.”
8 Bizarre: The Kermit Coat
Back when Lady Gaga was making a name for herself in music, she arrived on a German talk show in 2009 in an outfit made out of numerous Kermit the Frog puppets, which came down to her torso. According to The Talko, this wasn’t her first time in a Muppets-inspired outfit either as she was previously spotted wearing a skirt inspired by Muppets character Animal.
The Kermit the Frog costume was designed by Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, whose Fall 2009 runway show was inspired by the characters from The Muppets. The designer’s pieces included a menswear-inspired-suit covered in Muppets characters and frog-themed headbands and neckpieces.
7 Love: A Glamorous Silver Gown At The 2019 Grammy Awards
One of Lady Gaga’s more subtle yet dazzling looks was when she arrived at the 2019 Grammy Awards in a strapless, sequined gown from Celine by Hedi Slimane. The songstress made her look sparkle even brighter when she paired her dress with Tiffany & Co. diamonds with a glamourous necklace and stud earrings.

That night, Gaga took home two Grammy Awards for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance and Best Song Written for Visual Media for her song “Shallow,” featuring Bradley Cooper for the film A Star is Born. The movie was a worldwide success for the singer and Cooper, grossing about $434 million, which was well over its $36 million budget.
6 Bizarre: Head-To-Toe White Ensemble
After Lady Gaga stepped out in New York City wearing this outrageous white head-to-toe look, people compared her to a polar bear and even a Muppet. We don’t know what to really call it, but it definitely was one of her most bizarre looks.
The Mother Monster arrived at NYC’s Roseland Ballroom in March 2014 wearing this wild get-up that also came with a matching facemask that concealed her entire face. According to La Maison Gaga, while many fans thought she was wearing fur, the songstress was actually covered in white zip ties from designer Alex Ulichny’s Spring/Summer 2014 collection titled “White Noise.”
5 Love: Looking Like A Royal In Alexander McQueen
Lady Gaga seemed to go with a princess vibe every time she stepped on a red carpet to promote her successful movie A Star is Born. This time, the songstress wore a stunning Elizabethan-inspired ballgown at the U.K. premiere of the movie. The dress was an avant-garde Alexander McQueen design that featured pearl embroidery, dropped sleeves, and a ruffle collar.
She looked like royalty when she arrived at the red carpet premiere in London, wearing the design from the late McQueen’s Autumn/Winter 2013 collection, as she took photos alongside her co-star Bradley Cooper.
4 Bizarre: Red Lace Dress At The MTV Video Music Awards
The 2009 MTV Video Music Awards was a great night for Lady Gaga who took home the award for New Artist and Best Visual Effects and Art Direction for her song “Paparazzi.” The win wouldn’t be complete without Gaga stepping on stage to collect her award from a puzzled Eminem in a red lace dress that wasn’t as outrageous as the headdress and matching red lace mask she wore.
While her dress was also transparent, the most odd portion of her outfit was the pointy crown and facemask, which she eventually took off to reveal her face to the crowd after her win. According to MTV, her dress was a 1998 design by Alexander McQueen, who she wears regularly.

Lady Gaga is known for her grand entrances and it was no different for the 2013 American Music Awards when she arrived on the red carpet atop a white horse that was made of people. While her entrance was one of her most over-the-top, her outfit and minimal makeup look was stunning.
Gaga was the face of Versace at the time so it was only fitting that she appeared in a beautiful lilac Versace dress. She paired the dress with an armor-like harness of chains around her chest. At the time, Gaga shared her excitement working with the high-end designer, stating, “Donatella is family to me, and she’s always been so supportive of my career. It was a wonderful experience, and it’s a wonderful coup d’etat for the fans as well.”
1 Bizarre: The Famous Meat Dress At The 2010 MTV Video Music Awards
By far, Lady Gaga’s most talked-about dress was the meat dress with matching meat shoes she wore at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards. The dress was made of actual raw-beef which to no one’s surprise, caused an uproar with PETA.
However, Gaga addressed her choice of fashion pointing out its significance to the rights of gay soldiers. The singer also went on Ellen DeGeneres’ show and stated, “If we don’t stand up for what we believe in, if we don’t fight for our rights, pretty soon we’re going to have as much rights as the meat on our bones.”
