Future appears to take shot at Russell Wilson in new song after he married ex Ciara

Grammy award-winning rapper Future appears to have reignited a long-standing feud with Russell Wilson after releasing a new song that seemingly takes shots at the Denver Broncos quarterback.

Future, 39, released a track titled ‘Turn Yo Clic Up’ Friday alongside Migos frontman Quavo. The second verse, and the first one rapped by Future, includes the lyric “I got it out the field, f**k Russell,” as the fourth bar.

The tension dates back to 2015. That was when Wilson and Future’s former fiancee Ciara began dating.

The two recording artists got engaged in October 2013. They also had a child, Future Zahir Wilburn, born in May 2014.

Three months after the birth, the couple called off their engagement amid allegations of infidelity on Future’s behalf. A year later, Ciara moved on and began dating Wilson.

That same summer, months after his ex-fiancee reportedly first met the then-Seattle Seahawks quarterback at a Wisconsin basketball game, Future used an interview with The Breakfast Club to voice his displeasure with the relationship. “You don’t bring a man around your son,” he said. “You’ve known this man for a few months, and you’re bringing him around your kid? Who does that?”

A year after meeting, the couple got engaged. Later in 2016, almost exactly 12 months on from Future’s comments surfacing, they married in Cheshire. Ciara has since given birth to two more children by Wilson, another son, Win Harrison, and a daughter, Sienna Princess.

Since those original comments about Ciara, Future has turned fire on Wilson. “He do exactly what she tell him to do,” the rapper claimed on his Apple Music show Freebandz Radio.

“He not being a man in that position. He not telling her, ‘Chill out with that on the internet. Don’t even talk to him. I’m your husband. You better not even bring Future’s name up!’ If that was me, she couldn’t even bring his name up. She know that. She couldn’t even bring her exes names up.”

Wilson has held his tongue over the years, but 2022 did see Ciara credit the ugly split with Future as a catalyst for bringing future clarity into her life. “I told myself I’ve got to figure out how to navigate in the next chapter of my life,” she said during a Women’s Health interview.

“All the things I was aspiring to have at that time, even thinking about love, I was like, it’s going to happen when it’s supposed to.

“But I can’t love anybody to the best of my ability if I’m not loving on myself. I can’t be the best mom if I’m not loving on myself. So I put more focus on me, taking care of me; it was the best thing I could have done.”

Future had remained relatively quiet about his ex and Wilson over recent years. That now appears to be over after the release of this latest track.
