First Round – 2023 NBA Mock Draft

1 – San Antonio Spurs: Victor Wembanyama

19: 7’4 220 Pivot Metropolitan92 (France). Comp= High School/UCLA Kareem.

The Spurs get the dominant Unicorn Bigman/Alien out of France. He is heralded as the greatest prospect, maybe ever. Let’s see if he lives up to it.

2 – Charlotte Hornets: Brandon Miller

21: 6’8 200 Forward Alabama. Comp= Michael Porter jr

Look, Scoot is the better prospect. Miller is just not a high upside guy. But his floor is really high. All the intel points to Miller being the guy.

3 – Portland Trailblazers: Scoot Henderson

19: 6’2 180 Point Ignite. Comp= Derrick Rose

Portland make out like bandits. Multiple teams should offer real value for Scoot if they decide to keep Dame.

4 – Houston Rockets: Cam Whitmore

19: 6’6 200 Forward Villanova. Comp= Miles Bridges

With Amen’s stock seeming to fall here is a surprise jump for Cam. He is a good fit with or without a Harden reunion.

5 – Detroit Pistons: Taylor Hendricks

19: 6’10 200 Forward UCF. Comp= Dorian Finney-Smith

Detroit needs a stretch big. While this is a bit of a reach there is no doubt that a Hendricks/Duren front court will dominate on defense.

6 – Orlando Magic: Amen Thompson

20: 6’7 200 Point Forward OTE. Comp= Scottie Pippin

The Magic make off like bandits in this mock. It’s amazing for them. They get a point guard of the future and a guy with real superstar potential.

7 – Indiana Pacers: Jarace Walker

19: 6’8 220 Point Forward Houston. Comp= Royce White/Thick Odom

Walker is definitely someone who would impress Larry Bird and Rick Carlisle. His defensive versatility will be unlocked by Rick and his offensive upside seems to be forgotten by most people.

8 – Washington Wizards: Cason Wallace

19: 6’3 184 Guard Kentucky. Comp= Jrue Holiday

See also  Dynasty Startup Mock Draft: 12-Team, 1QB (2023 Fantasy Football)

Cason canceled all his workouts after he worked out for Washington. He’s a perfect fit there either as the guy coming in to finish the starting lineup or the guy to build around for the future.

9 – Utah Jazz: Bilal Coulibaly

19: 6’6 185 Wing Metropolitans 92 (France). Comp= Michael Kidd-Gilchrest.

The Jazz get the incredible opportunity here to get a great defender with some offensive upside.

10 – Dallas Mavericks: Anthony Black

19: 6’7 200 Point Forward Arkansas. Comp= Shawn Livingston

Dallas needs wing defense. Black is incredible at it and his ability to fill in gaps on offense will fit right in here. The main worry of his shooting I think is being overstated because of how bad the spacing was in Arkansas.

11 – Orlando Magic: Ausar Thompson

20: 6’7 108 Wing OTE. Comp= Shawn Marion but shorter.

Orlando getting both Thompsons is insane. Who allowed this to happen? (Me, I let it happen and am speaking it into existence) A soul crossing defense around Paolo’s offensive hub.

12 – Oklahoma City Thunder: Leonard Miller

20: 6’10 200 Point Forward G-League Ignite (Canada). Comp= Jeff Green

OKC loves long rangy guys and Miller is kinda like Poku if Poku wasn’t a bad basketball player.

13 – Toronto Raptors: Derek Lively II

19: 7’1 220 Big Duke. Comp= Clint Capela

The raptors finally get their Center of the future if they decide to rebuild.

14 – New Orleans Pelicans: Nick Smith

19: 6’5 180 Guard Arkansas. Comp= Jamal Murray

Assuming the pelicans don’t trade up for Scoot like reported this is a good consolation prize.

15 – Atlanta Hawks: Gradey Dick

19: 6’8 200 Forward Kansas. Comp= White Hardaway jr.

16 – Utah Jazz: Jalen Hood-Schifino

19: 6’5 210 Guard Indiana. Comp= Spencer Dinwiddie

17 – Los Angeles Lakers: Jordan Hawkins

21: 6’5 170 Guard Uconn. Comp= better defensive Max Struss.

18 – Miami Heat: Kobe Bufkin

20: 6’4 180 Wing Michigan. Comp= Devin Harris

19 – Golden State Warriors: Keyonte George

19: 6’4 170 Guard Baylor. Comp= Bradley Beal lite

20 – Houston Rockets: Jett Howard- 19: 6’7 180 Wing Michigan. Comp= Jerry Stackhouse lite

21 – Brooklyn Nets: James Nnaji

19: 6’11 200 Pivot FC Barcelona (Nigeria). Comp= Freaking Thanos.

22 – Brooklyn Nets: Maxwell Lewis

21: 6’7 175 Wing Pepperdine. Comp= Mikel Bridges lite.

23 – Portland Trailblazers: Noah Clowney
