Coachella 2024: everything we know about the 2024 desert festival

Coachella is one of the world’s most famous festivals. Loved by music fans and influencers alike, it kicks off festival season on the world stage and boasts a lineup of some of the biggest names in hip-hop, pop and EDM. Last year’s headliners were BLACKPINK, Frank Ocean and Bad Bunny and celebrity guests included the Biebers, the Kardashian-Jenners and internet stars like Emma Chamberlain and Charli D’Amelio. The Forty-Five has reported from Coachella multiple times and we’re here to answer your burning questions about the 2024 festival.

When is Coachella 2024?

Fri, 12 Apr 2024 – Sun, 21 Apr 2024.

Where is Coachella?

Coachella takes place at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California. It’s about a three-hour drive from Los Angeles and about an hour from Palm Springs. The site is a Polo Club – essentially a large dusty area with very-dry grass underfoot. It’s very dusty and very hot and you will walk a lot, so don’t wear flip-flops.

How can I get Coachella tickets?

Coachella tickets are sold out but the waitlist is open via the official website. Tickets are also available via Stubhub for a not-too-inflated price.

How much do Coachella tickets cost?

Weekend, general admission tickets start at $499-$599 plus booking fees. They are currently listed on StubHub for $471-$485. VIP tickets are also sold out but were available for between $1069-$1269. The waitlist is also open for VIP. Tickets become available sporadically. If you’ve requested five tickets via the waitlist you will only get a chance of a ticket when five are available. So consider if you want to put individual requests in.

Who is rumoured to headline 2024?

No lineup announcements have been made yet. Taylor Swift does have a gap between the Asian and European leg of her Eras Tour over Coachella but will that mean she will headline? Doja Cat put on a vastly ambitious show in 2022 which set out her stall to be a future headliner. Rihanna took on the Super Bowl and won but does she have a two-hour set in her? We know Dua Lipa is gearing up to release new music with first single ‘Houdini’ on its way this month – will she be festival ready by April? Could Olivia Rodrigo take on the top slot with just two albums? Stranger things have happened.

Is Coachella worth it?

It depends what you’re looking for. You’ll be pushed to find a lineup of bigger names anywhere in the world. We are big Glastonbury fans at The Forty-Five and it’s a very different experience. No expense is spared on the sets, staging and lighting at Coachella – probably because acts are paid a lot more to perform. But the weather and desert environment can make it a little gruelling. We wrote about what it’s like to attend Coachella in your thirties.
