CAM SMITH
Age: 29
World Ranking: 6th
Masters Played: Six (Six cuts made)
Best finish at the Masters: T2, 2020
Best Major result: Win, The Open Championship 2022
Why he can win: Arguably Australia’s best chance making the trip down Magnolia Lane, Smith is a perennial performer around Augusta National and has proven that he can win big events. It doesn’t get much bigger than an Open Championship at the Old Course. The only concern is the lack of competitive reps that Smith will have under his belt since moving to LIV Golf, but a world-class performer that will be right up for this.

JASON DAY
Age: 35
World Ranking: 35th
Masters Played: 11 (Nine cuts made)
Best finish at the Masters: T2 2011
Best Major result: Win, 2015 PGA Championship
Why he can win: Wouldn’t go as far as to say Jason Day is in career best form, but he is definitely trending in the right direction. A plethora of good performances has seen the former World No.1 soar up the Official World Golf Rankings, and looks primed for a good outing at Augusta. Day has revamped the way he swings the golf club and the way he approaches the game mentally, historically plays well here, and its hard to see 2023 being any different.

MIN WOO LEE
Age: 24
World Ranking: 48th
Masters Played: One (One cut made)
Best finish at the Masters: T14, 2022
Best Major result: T14, Masters, 2022
Why he can win: Min Woo oozes class, and he showed why he is one of the hottest prospects in golf when he lit up the front side on the final day of the 2022 Masters to equal the front nine scoring record (30) at the tournament. You also don’t find yourself in the final group at The Players Championship without having something special about you, a premium ball-striker that will definitely fancy his chances.

ADAM SCOTT
Age: 42
World Ranking: 40th
Masters Played: 20 (18 cuts made)
Best finish at the Masters: Win, 2013
Best Major result: Win, 2013 Masters
Why he can win: To put it simply, he’s done it before, and on the 10-year anniversary of his triumph, there could well be something in the water when Scotty tees it up this week. Since his victory in 2013 Scott has only made the top-10 once more, in 2017, however, the past champion is confident in his game, and if he can find some fairways he will contend. Class is permanent.

HARRISON CROWE
Age: 21
World Ranking: 504 (a)
Masters Played: Debut
Best finish at the Masters: N/A
Best Major result: N/A
Why he can win: It is always going to be an uphill battle for an Amateur to contend at Augusta National, but in his own words, “You’re setting the bar too low for yourself, I think, if you don’t believe you can win”. So, Crowe is heading to Augusta with the right intentions, and he is no stranger to shaking up professional events, the Sydneysider winning the 2022 NSW Open.
